LSF Focuses on providing pertinent information on Domestic Violence against Women !!!
It’s National Domestic Violence Awareness Month!

Google defines domestic violence as such!
do·mes·tic vi·o·lence
noun
1. violent or aggressive behavior within the home, typically involving the violent abuse of a spouse or partner.
I BEG TO DIFFER!
What about the partner who assaults or worse fatally injures a partner or a spouse in the street, the store or in the workplace? This question alone has negated the term “violence between two people living in the same home”.
Domestic Violence is society’s dirty little secret, we don’t talk about it because it is shameful. In a society where we are constantly pushing the sale of female empowerment - I asked myself what does it really mean?
EMPOWERMENT
Empowerment includes the action of raising the status of women through education, raising
awareness, literacy, and training. Women's empowerment is all about equipping and allowing women to make life-determining decisions through the different problems in society.
I’m all for this, empowering one another to be better, bolder and stronger. But I again ask another question, do empowered women suffer at the hands of their spouses, partners of loved ones? It’s a resounding “YES”. Are empowered women versus less empowered women more likely to report abuse? It’s a resounding ‘NO”.
Less empowered women believe that to report abuse it will likely result in more abuse especially if the abuse can’t be proven by physical marks. Most empowered women fail to report abuse because it will compromise the image society has bestowed upon them. So they all suffer in silence.
Empowerment of any kind, though wonderful, does not shield one from the sick vices of most humans. The birth of violence stems from - ANGER, HATE, ENVY, and JEALOUSY.
Violence shows up in many forms such as physical assaults, sexual assaults, assaults against children in the home, loved ones in the home, stalking etc.

IT MUST STOP!
The Lady Storm Foundation (LSF) is determined to keep the focus on this issue. How? • BY REVISING THE DEFINITION OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE TO INCLUDE ASSAULTS OCCURRING OUTSIDE OF THE HOME ENVIRONMENT AS WELL.
Why? Because, I know for absolute sure domestic violence is not confined to the home between two partners. Domestic Violence occurs anywhere there’s an opportunity to follow through on a demented desire. By virtue of this statement, WE ARE ALL AT RISK. Thus, it becomes a societal responsibility to act.
CASE IN POINT - Two days ago, September 09, 2020, as I’m writing this article, I read in the Orlando Sentinel HEADLINE
